Søren Kjærgaard (b.1978)

Søren Kjærgaard has for a number of years, curiously been carrying out his own investigations of the piano and its modern derivatives. Playing with a greatly personal style he is always on the search for new melodies and animating improvisations. Kjærgaard’s handling of the keys - whether a Steinway grand piano, Würlitzer, or Farfisa organ - stands out as and unconventional, but still with a clear sensibility and understanding of traditions and genres. Both as a composer and a solid team player Kjærgaard exerts his music with a deeply involving feel, not least in his close collaboration with Bro on the Bandapart recordings. Kjærgaard has also played and recorded with several well renowned artists such as Derek Bailey, Torben Ulrich, and Andrew Cyrille.
