musician at loveland records:
Bill Frisell (b. 1951)
Ever since his break as a professional musician, Bill Frisell has continuously been setting the standard for modern guitar playing and improvisation. One can hardly find a greater diversity and creative use of the instrument as is the case with Frisell, who from an early point on, was pioneering the use of varied effects in a highly innovative way. Besides this, his seamless, eclectic shifting from one genre to another has led him to collaborations with a huge range of artists, including: Paul Motian, Brian Eno, Elvin Jones, David Sylvian, Paul Bley, Elvis Costello, film director Gus Van Sant and Daniel Lanois. However, Frisell's original tone and expression stands out clearly, no matter what and with whom he's performing, which can also be heard on his contributions to the Loveland Record releases.
