Loveland records:
The title of Beautiful Day's second release Slaraffenland translates roughly to 'the land of milk and honey' - an imaginary place with unlimited resources - which in this case acts as a metaphor for how the band seems to be able to pick and choose from whatever musical genre they wish, playing with great creativity and very few artistic restraints. Beautiful Day here combine accurate grooves and distorted guitar riffs with high powered jazz improvisations, while also adding some down-tempo ballads, revealing a more subtle and ethereal aspect of the band's wide range of sound. In this way, Slaraffenland is a natural follow-up to their earlier, rock-inspired debut album and at the same time it points towards the later development of Beautiful Day's production.
